Kreativ Blog Award & Leibster Award...Thanks!

Thank you, ladies, for the terrific awards...

&    Blog Award!

Now the rules for the Kreativ Blog Award are to thank the person who gave it to you, and to write seven things about yourself and to pass it on to other bloggers.
Here we go!  The lovely Em of Loves To Read Wants To Write listed me as one of the winners of this award over at her site this week.

1.  I have a secret love for long-ago actor, Yul Brynner.  Really and truly, I do.  I was just discussing this the other day...Okay, okay, maybe it's not so secret...but, I digress.  Sigh. ;}

2.  One of my favorite movies of all time is The Quiet Man.  John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara were quite possibly the most fantastic romantic pairing of all time.

3.  I love to laugh -  And to make others laugh.  I will go to great lengths to get a chuckle, snicker, guffaw, chortle, giggle, bellow, snort, smile, grin, or even sparklin' eyes of mirth.  I cannot help myself.

4.  An all-time great Bugs Bunny cartoon is the one where he encounters the Russian girl rabbit, Millicent.  She is the only character to ever foil him!  She finds him wherever he hides, and smooches him, saying, "Kiss me dahhhling, for tomorrow we make marriage!"  Ahhh, what a gal.

5.  I love geography.  I can fill in the countries on most continents.  I just like memorizing maps.  I actually own a geography coloring book (Before you start laughing, it is a high-school level book...lol - none of that pre-k bull-shlacka for me)

6.  One of my sisters re-named me Schultz.  I think I've mentioned this before, but it's a weird little fact.  Therefore, I like it.  I do not remember when she started this, but it stuck.  I have been Schultz to my siblings for years and years.

7.   I like spending time with old people.  They have the best stories...

Well, that's the end of my revealing...I'll call it 'The Rather Ridiculous Revealing of 'Aught 11'.

I want to thank Lena Corazon for gifting me the Liebster Blog!  I have made such great friends during this Round Of Words In 80 Days.  I enjoy keeping up with what's happening in their writing, their jobs, and their lives.  I can't deny that I feel a little guilty at receiving an award for doing something I love <3

The official rules state that I should follow the person who gave it to me.  Then I should link back to their blog.  (Done & Done!)  The next step is where it gets tricky.  It is recommend that I pass along the award to five other writers!  That's great - except I don't know if I have five blogger friends that have gone above and beyond in encouragement that haven't already received this award...
So, I'm gifting the Liebster Blog Award to....
Julius Cicero - Writer  Julius is a talented writer and I love reading his posts.  Julius also went out of his way to read my novel, Claiming The Prize, which is a romance (not his usual genre...lol) - just to offer me feedback.  Now that's being a real 'guy'!  He's always around offering encouragement and support whenever I need it.  Thanks Julius!
Hofferth Books is the other blog that I will gift this award to.  This team -he writes, she illustrates (and I believe does covers, too!) has a great attitude in their posts.  I've mentioned this blog a few times over the course of this round because of posts I thought were note-worthy, and also for 'out of the way helpfulness/enouragement'.
Congrats...

An Interview ....In Which I Sound Much More Mature Than I Feel...Fabulous :)

Joanne Troppello, writer of inspirational romance, featured my book on her blog page today and asked me a few questions.  I wanted to post a link, not only to share the interview, but in appreciation for her taking the time to host!

Meeting Goals...

Getting back into the swing of writing has been more challenging than I like to admit.  It's as if, after going through the process of editing - after studying and fine-tuning each sentence, each word - my brain struggled to get creative and let the words flow again.  I did write my chapter, but it was with some difficulty.  Luckily, I'm in a more fun section to write, which probably helped out.  So, I'm off to chapter eight this week!  That leaves three chapters to wrap things up.  ....Wait, that means that I'll be back to the typing....yikes!

This was my first week of structure within my writing world.  It was different.  I'm adjusting.  It really gave me a sense of accomplishment to hit so many goals that before, I just wouldn't have had time for.  I'll probably post my aims on Sunday.  For now...I've got a great deal to get done today.  Hope you all are cruising right along.  Best wishes for a super second half to your week! ~ Nadja

  1. Nadja, congratulation on your blog award! That's so cool.

I enjoyed reading those few facts about you.I too like to laugh and make others laugh (or at least smile) and I appreciate geography. Here, in your map is my country -- right almost in the middle of the picture, in red :-)

  3. I definitely really liked this one. I think it had a different enough tone and message to be unique.

Thanks for pointing out that blog post -- it's always interesting to hear the writer's thoughts like that.

  4. That's right! You are a native of Poland! I've read some truly fascinating facts about the tenacity of the Polish people in my historical perusal. Thanks for stopping by Joanne's blog. She's a very nice person :) ~ Nadja

  5. Thank you so much! It has been a blast lurking around :-).

I'm with you in that I'm not entirely sure who I'm going to be able to pass this along to. I'll have to think of something clever...

  6. Hi Nadja. Congratulations on your award! I loved reading these little snippets of your life, it's so interesting to hear about other people's likes. At school, I always loved Geography too, strange that, but I memorized all the European capital cities. :)

  8. Thank you, Nadja! I'm also like you, not sure about which bloggers to award, but I'll do my best!

  9. Glad you both appreciate the motive behind the gift. I'm always hesitant to 'gift' awards in case the blogger is swamped with work, writing, blogging, or life's demands.
Thank you Allie! I like reading little tidbits about others also. It says a lot about the various personalities we encounter on the web...and makes them more 'real-life'.
I admire your memorization, too! European capitals are not my best suit...:) ~ Nadja

  10. Congrats on the awards. Always nice to find a fellow Yul Brynner drooler, and I LOVE that Bugs Bunny episode almost as much as the classic “Kill The Wabbit” opera.

  11. I've always liked Yul Brynner. But one time, many years ago, he made a quiet public service announcement asking people to quit smoking or risk ending up like him--a man who was dying of cancer.

My admiration for him went up 1000% He was a class act all the way to the end.

  12. Lisa ~ hmmm, Yul love. Fantastic. 'Kill The Wabbit' is another all time favorite of mine. What am I saying? I honestly can't think of a Looney Toons cartoon that I don't like. I own a few box sets of those cartoons, and my boys love them. Have you seen the new looney toons? They're awful! Nothing like the originals. It makes me a little sad.
Maria ~ Yes, he was a class act. .....And Manly (and he managed to be manly even while bare-chested, wearing a man-skirt, and sporting sandals---go figure ---uncommon). I absolutely loved your post. I'll be linking back to it this week! Good luck with your search. ~ Nadja

  13. Way to go on the awards :) Love the facts you shared - hubby and I adore The Quiet Man. I'm a John Wayne fan as it is, but loved this side of him and Maureen - what a stunning and talented actress. She lit up that screen. My favorite scene is when they're in the rain, so subtle yet so powerful.

I've been working to find a balance between edits of one work and writing other works and find my brain is slow to switch it up too much in a day. But if I spend too much time editing, I crave the being creative part.

Best wishes for a stellar rest of your week!

    Marie

  14. Congrats on the award and thanks for sharing the fun facts! Sounds like you have been busy so far this week. May the rest of the week be smooth sailing for you!

  15. Hooray for progress and awards! I love reading posts with awards in them because then I get suggestions for more blogs I can attempt (and mostly fail, but shhh) to follow!

Hope you have a fantastic week, too!

  16. Marie - I wondered if anyone else would know how great that movie is. Yes, O'Hara lit up the screen. They (Maureen & John) had this volatile chemistry that made watching them a treat. I also loved them in McClintock! I saw a movie of Wayne's - Reap The Wild Wind - in which he was very young. Fabulous if you've never seen it.
Wendy - Thanks! I tried to keep it fun. I second your wishes for smooth sailing!
L.S. - It is a good way to find interesting blogs. Good point.

Hope you are all having forward progress! ~ Nadja

  17. Congrats on the awards, well-earned. Love the Bugs Bunny, Millicent is a memorable episode, poor Bugs :)

Shifting between the creative and the editing process is hard for me as well. One thing I do is write short ad blurps for products I see on TV, think up or have sitting around the house. 20-30 words, just a few act to prime the pump so to speak and usually get me moving again.

Best of luck through the end of the round :)

  18. I'll have to give that a try, Gene. I will say that writing the flash-fiction piece seemed to get my creativity flowing. Maybe that is where I'll focus rather than on ads from television. Thanks for the tip.

Best of luck to you also! I hope to see you again next round. ~ Nadja

  20. Congrats on the award. My sister is the one with a nickname in my family, but I didn't give it to her; she and her friends came up with it. But we all pretty much use it now.

Good luck on your final week goals.

  22. I love Bugs Bunny.

I never developed a thing for Yul because I haven't seen any of his movies (but I see the appeal).

    Congrats on the awards.

  23. Congrats on the blog awards!

So many good tidbits in your list of random things. I loved Yul in The 10 Commandments, The Magnificent Seven, and The King and I, and I grew up watching old Looney Toons episodes. Also, The Quiet Man is an absolutely wonderful movie.

Have a great week, and good luck getting back into the swing of writing!
