As you all know, Mother's Day just passed. I received the best gifts! DD#1 bought me a fabulous card and adorable summer shirt. DD#2 sent me The Jane Austen Daily Devotional with another beautiful card. Husband and DS#1 gifted me a way-too-expensive-card and overflowing hanging flower basket. DS#2 and DS#3 each bought me a red rose (with their own allowance...gah!) and made me very creative cards ... Among other gifts...a new teapot, a coupon book for free hugs-chores-and-breakfast-in-bed, a painting matted and framed by third grader, and a giraffe cut out and glued onto a giant colored construction paper background. Phew!
My brother, whom I affectionately call Froderick, sent me this. It will explain the essence of our large, hilarity-loving family. Please enjoy...
From the wacky, weird, wild, and wondersome world of Monty Python, we most enthusiastically say to you: Happy Person Who Gives Birth to Other Person(s) Day! Or, as known in various other regions around the world that we can't think of off the tops of our heads: Festive Older Female Persons Who Happen to Have Children Day, Feliz Mom-Not-Dad, Happy-ish Person With Maternal Instinct Day, Matriarch Recognition Day, Team Captain of the Home-Front Day eh, The Kind-Of-Day Off For Housekeepers With Families, Women With Children Anonymous Awareness Day, or more commonly: Happy Mother's Day!
Love,
The Funkiest Darn Bunch, dad-gummit!

On The Writing Front...
Chapter four is well underway, and Evangeline is a wonderful mixture of staunch primness and no-nonsense retorts. Too fun. Her sister is awash in infatuation - and it's a nice contrast between the two.
The Sinful Siren's Giveaway Hop has begun! Stop by the linky list to enter for all the great prizes being offered! With 132 participants, there's sure to be something for everyone! I've entered a few giveaways myself.
ROW80 friends are just a click away - stop by and offer encouragement!

The gifts received from your fam are too cute, but that duck picture sounds AWFULLY familiar lol!!!
ReplyDeleteAhem. There was a particular incident involving one sister in our family ...Oh! The spanking that followed...too deserved. Ha!
DeleteOkay, I may have to steal, er, borrow (lol) some of those Mother's Day descriptions. Too funny! Good luck with the weekly goals.
ReplyDeleteMelanie
Glad you enjoyed Monty Python humor. I've found that people either find it riotous or revolting. British humor and my family go hand in hand...and we're not British at all! Ha.
DeleteThat was so cute and *Yay* for all those cute gifts and getting chpt 4 done! I love that kind of contrast-makes scenes fun to write (and read!). I have two characters in my WIP that are friends and so different in terms of their personalities; I love playing them off of one another. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYes. It allows for a natural revelation of each character when one plays off another. I'm enjoying these sisters very much. Now...to get more typing done. OY!
DeleteLOL I wish there was "I'm Not a Mom, but I Like Presents Too" day, but then again, I don't have to change dirty diapers, so I guess I celebrate everyday :) Hope you had a FABULOUS Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteI did, Claudia. Thank you. Diapers are a thing of the past here, thank G-D! (No irreverence at all in that statement). I don't miss it. Ha!
DeleteWhat a fun Mother's Day you must have had! I think you have a fabulous family. :)
ReplyDelete*Thanks* They are pretty great. There are so many of us, and we used to fight and bicker like cats and dogs growing up. Now... I'm so thankful to have them all. It's hard living so far away from my siblings. We used to be together nearly every day - one or another stopping by, in and out. It sometimes drove my husband crazy - all the traffic and boisterous visiting. He said it made him feel like he married my entire family. We get smaller doses now...visiting a few times a year. But the phone minutes used??? Well...he's upped the plan minutes more than once. Ha! A few stern lectures have been handed out to no avail...

ReplyDeleteI think I am in love with your family, Nadja. That has to be the best Mother's Day collection of "awesomely happy" I've ever seen. I'm doing a SQUEEE! just reading.
On the writing note: nice to hear about Chapter Four. It's fun when you have two characters with history that help you understand each other through their contrasts.
Have a great week and enjoy your giraffe (my son's favorite animal in the whole world)!
Commenting issue resolved! :}
DeleteGiraffes are a popular favorite around here, but spiders are the number one fascination right now. That and bug killing of any sort. Ha! My two youngest will actually catch bugs and toss them into spider webs. Ewww.
Glad you appreciated the Monty Python piece. My all time favorite has to be 'The Mystery Of Life' I still laugh unabashedly when I watch.
Hi Nadja...
ReplyDeleteSorry to not have been coming by on the regular, but life has a way of deciding schedules unannounced...
have a question about the pic at the top...Do you know how uncomfortable it is to have sand all over you while in a compromising position like that?
and on that note I am glad to hear that your next is progressing along and that you had a good mothers day!
hope sales are kicking A$$
Wander
Life carries me away at times too! Don't think a thing of it! Glad to see you around, though. :}
DeleteI've never had the pleasure, er..., maybe I should say the pain of having sand all over me while in any compromising position. It's all sandcastle building and shell finding in this girl's memory bank.
Now that I think about it...yeah...I see your point. Ha!
Been working on that anthology?
