Memories happy, faces laughing
linger in the mind's eye
blissfully ignorant to
Truth.
Moments tender, heartfelt words
whispered, uncoerced gifts
bitter upon the palate of
Truth.
Times distant, abandoned
contemplative, untouched
vetted in the aftermath of
Truth.
Night descends, shadows
devour certainty, tomorrow
lays trampled beneath
Lies.
Meh... More theraputic than I expected. Go figure.
Why do you think I write so much poetry? it has a punch to the gut of the situation that pros doesn't quite have... don't get me wrong I love writing a good story, and that can be very cathartic but poems are quick!

Thanks for sharing this
I think you are correct.
DeleteI never read much poetry, aside from my sister's and selections from the Tanakh, until reading at your blog - and all those links you offer. Ha! It's a nice form of expression that's do-able in the aftermath of a long project.
The release of words can have that effect :-)
ReplyDeleteYes...we writers and our love affair with words. :}
DeleteI'm made to wonder what brought that on....
ReplyDeleteHey there! Nice little poem there. And thanks for stopping by my page with your kind comments.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
I have to say I never really read poetry either. Loved this though!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I stopped by. Reading and writing poetry is therapeutic.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the creativity of selecting only a few words to convey the theme. While I am no poet...I'll likely try my hand at it again. :}
DeleteNadja, read one of your books, and while doing it ponder a few of the chapters. if you took them out and added line breaks you would probably find that in fact you are a poet...come on, give it a try :-)

and believe it or not I wrote my very first poem just over a year ago...you too may find your self doing it more often then you think...next thing you know you may even find yourself writing a fiction fantasy romance...
Hmmm. Something to ponder, Wander. Thanks.
DeleteThis was entirely a new adventure, writing this... I will try again. :}
