Hi everyone! Hope you've all had as great a weekend as I have. Friday was the release of my first novel, and also the night that we went out to celebrate my birthday! What a good time that was, although, I'm exhausted from staying up way past my bed-time.
My ROW80 friends helped to make this weekend extra special with all the support and encouragement they offered! Em has a great post up on confronting our fears as writers. Jamila Jamison, who gifted me with a great blog award that I'll be sharing, posted a link to a great new Platform-Building Campaign, inspiring me to join up and expand my horizons! Matt Hofferth looked into the idea of 'branding yourself'. This author/fellow ROW80 participant went out of his way to make our ROW80 writing community more than just 'empty words'. To these, and everyone who took the time to visit, comment, and follow - Thanks :)

Goals For The Remainder Of The Round...
Now that my novel is published, I need to get back to some of my other goals!
1. I still need to format/upload at Amazon.com for the print version of my novel. This will be completed within two weeks. (Unless I have some major catastrophe...;}
2. It's time to get back to writing Her Dark Baron. I will begin Wednesday, and hope to complete a chapter a week until the current Round ends. I'd like to have the novella completed by September's end, but I may need to move that goal to October's end.
3. Once the novella is completed, I will spend four weeks in edits/betas. Then, I'll begin the process of publishing again! The goal is to have this WIP published before year's end.
4. I'll be watching for the dates for the next Round's onset. I will have a working list of goals completed to reach for during the new Round.
5. Marking out time for daily reading on my TBR pile, even if it's only one hour a day.
6. Planning effective marketing strategies. This is an area in which I am truly lacking in knowledge. Research is the word that comes to mind here.
That sums up my working list of goals. For now...
Have a terrific week and stick to your goals through the Round's end! ~ Nadja
Ooh, happy birthday, and congratulations on the novel release! What an exciting combination of events. You should be dead tired after celebrating those together, really. :)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on all your goals! I see a list like that and I just think to myself that I really should try that whole list and planning thing myself. It clearly seems pretty effective.
Happy birthday and congratulations on the novel release! Joyful exhaustion is a great thing.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for the coming week :)
belated Happy Birthday and congratulations - what a good week it sounds - all the best for rest of goals - are you using createspace for amazon - just asking as I was toying with idea -
ReplyDeleteHello from a fellow ROW80er and Campaigner. This is the first time I'm stumbled upon your blog. Happy Birthday and congrats on publishing! sounds like you got everything under control.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteAlberta~ You're not late at all...in fact, today is my birthday!! Woo-hoo. I am going to use Createspace for my print version. I had a fairly easy time with KDP, so I'm hoping for an equally good experience with another Amazon product/format.
L.S. ~ I have to write out what my actual goals are. I'm a list person...lol.
Gene - Thanks for the congrats! It's a nice moment :)
Universecity - Great to meet you! Thanks for stopping by.

Happy birthday and congrats on the novel, sounds like you've had a great weekend. best of luck for next week
ReplyDeleteHi Nadja,
ReplyDeleteI'm here because of the campaign (thank you for visiting Carole, Sharon and I on Romance & Beyond) but I recognize Row 80 and Gene Lempp from Jenny Hansen's More Cowbell.
Congrats on the book release. I've just released my first book, Storyteller, a collection of short stories - a diversion from my WIP - but here's the thing: When a publisher calls to say she likes your work, then asks if you have a collection she could look at, the answer is always YES.
LOVE the cover for Claiming the Prize.
Happy birthday amd publishing weekend! Thank you for the shout out. I too was given the Liebster and was going to pass it to you but I saw you had it so thought I should spread the love further and pass it on to some other people. Just wanted you to know you were on my list!
ReplyDeleteJust seen your comment on my post, how strange we are writing to each other at exactly the same time! You seem really focused on your goals and it is great you are thinking about next round as well!
Keep up the good work and have a great week.
Katy ~ Thank you so very much.
ReplyDeleteSherry ~ As I said on your blog - I think you all have a terrific set up over there. And I agree! Yes is definitely the correct answer in that situation. Congrats to you. Thanks for the 'cover-love'. The wonderful Elaina Lee designed it for me. She's fabulous.
Em ~ ...yes, we were commenting at the same time! They always say...'Great minds think alike'...must be true. :)

What a week for good writing karma--congratz on your book escaping into the wild to makes its way in the world. It's a liberating/frightening experience that doesn't compare to much else. Well done!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting your book out. What a great feeling! Sounds like you are staying very productive and busy. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, to you and your book!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've really got a handle on your projects. Kudos!
Happy birthday and I hope your publishing continues to be successful. I tried to download your book, but couldn't access for the Kindle because I had to create an account for the site, so I tried a different option and have a few chapters on my PC. If you publish to Amazon, I will download. :)
ReplyDeleteHi All ~
ReplyDeleteWriter Monkey ~ Writing karma..love it!

Nadja, I would have sworn I've left a comment already but I don't see it. Maybe it didn't post, hmmm. Anway, I wanted to wish you a belated Happy Birthday and say "congratulations" on your book release.
