Rule Of Three...

The Rule of Three is a month-long fiction blogfest,   A New Challenge To Stretch Your Writer's Muscles...

The Rule of Three at Renaissance

By us, I mean Fighter writer, J.C. Martin, Flash Fiction Author Lisa Vooght, and Storyteller and author, Stuart Nager. We're excited to present a blogfest tailor-made for fiction writers to showcase their skills and receive comments on their work, and we hope you enjoy taking part in it as much as we enjoyed creating it!
So without further ado, announcing the Rule of Three Blogfest!
 A. What is the Rule of Three?
The "rule of three" is a principle in writing that suggests that things that come in threes are inherently funnier, more satisfying, or more effective than other numbers of things. The reader/audience of this form of text is also more likely to consume information if it is written in groups of threes. A series of three is often used to create a progression in which the tension is created, then built up, built up even more, and finally released. –Wikipedia
This is the information I've copied from Damyanti's Blog Fest Page at Amloki.  If you're interested, be sure to click the link for more information!  I love that the hosts have given participants so much time to get a story started!  I'm sure there will be some great reading as we get started...

  1. Am I understanding this correctly? Sign up soon, and the first prompt is posted in 2 weeks? Then every week after that?!

Remember yesterday when I said about crippling fear? Just the thought of doing something like this is making my pulse faster.

  2. I believe so, Joshua. I left a few questions at Damyanti's blog page, so I hope to have a few things cleared up in the comments here by later on today!

Am to understand that you may be considering signing up????? Even just a hint of consideration??? lol. ~ Nadja

  3. I still have it open on its own tab, so consider this a hint of...umm...consideration.

  4. Right, right. I'll leave it at that. Since you are so worked up about doing a challenge...you'll probably be fantastic at it. That's usually the way these things work. ~ Nadja

  5. Hi Nadja (welcome to the Rule of Three) and to Joshua:

You are asked to write within the world of Renaissance, a shared world that was created specifically for this event. There are a total of four postings, one a week, of no more than 600 words each. By creating three characters (Rule of Three), you are telling their story, progressing week by week until you come to the conclusion in the fourth week.

So, really, it's ONE story (of no more than 2,400 words total) told in four sections.

We will provide you with writing prompts to help you along the way. They are designed to give you a kick for the next segment.

Just wanted to stop by as one of the co-hosts of The Rule of Three Writers Challenge Blogfest and welcome you. October 5th is coming up fast. Glad to have you aboard. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome to Renaissance...everyone has a secret!

  6. Thanks, Stuart, for stopping by with the info.

I've been plotting away, and I think I've got my three characters pretty well nailed down. I've got a basic plot and storyline mapped out, and I've employed the map for Renaissance...which, by the way, I loved! (I'm a map nerd...fyi) It's just about time to get writing. See you on 05 October! ~ Nadja
