Wednesday Madness ~ Pushing To Prepare

Today I'm featuring fellow ROW80 author Claudia Lefeve, who recently released Parallel!  Buy it on Amazon...

Destiny has a way of catching up.

Saddled with powers she doesn’t understand, Etta Fleming’s world is turned upside-down the day she meets Cooper Everett, the man who transports her to an alternate reality. A reality she was meant to be a part of.One minute, she’s an orphan living at Dominion House for Girls, an institution for delinquent foster kids, then finds herself attending the exclusive Dominion Hall Academy.

Plucked from the only world she’s ever known, Etta now has to deal with an aunt she never knew, a boyfriend she doesn’t know, and a best friend who can’t know.

PARALLEL is the first book in The Travelers Series.

I just love that quote!  Best of luck, Claudia!

Today's the Day!  I'm signing up for NaNo.  Biting the bullet.  Taking the plunge.  Diving in head first.  Add your pithy comment here

I've never just written - and forgotten everything else.  I guess you can't knock it until you've tried it.

*  I've been busily typing away.  I'm in chapter four, but already passing 9K.  Why?  Because I've added..ohhh, a couple a two, t'ree t'ings.  (That's for any of you who've known a body from Scranton, PA)  Ha.

*  Still no reading for the sheer enjoyment of getting lost in a great novel.  Sigh.

*  Character profiles.  I'm about 70% finished with my male MC in the paranormal piece I'll be writing for NaNo.  I still have to complete my female MC, but I 'know' more about her already.  This means, I truly hope, that the profiling will be easier.  Although a bit of a struggle, this has been another tool from K.M. Weiland's - Outlining Your Novel that took my novel idea and carried it to a place I never dreamed I could/would go.

*  The 12 Days Of Christmas Reading...  I continue to formulate, change, ponder, discard, and stew on the possibilities.  Here are the two ideas that seem to stand out :

  *  Gather 12 authors - and their great books to be featured on my blog in one great post that will stay up for six days (we'd have to do 'two days of Christmas each day) or 12 days (which seems a bit long to wait for a giveaway...what do you all think?), with posts, thoughts, Christmas traditions, etc added to their 'section' or 'day'.  Offer a giveaway for each day.  (I would ask participants to donate a copy of their book or a gift card...whatever.)  I would have to formulate some serious strategies for marketing.  There's no sense having a giveaway if no one knows about it.  I'm thinking the Friday Bulletin Board of the Campaign would be a nice springboard.  Hmmmm
  *  Create the 12 Days of Christmas Reading list and ask that other bloggers (in addition to the authors themselves) re-post for a day or two.  This would be quite easy to organize, and a great Christmas present for all the new authors (including me! ha!).  There is great potential to reach so many with this idea!  It's exciting.

Would you be willing to re-post the 12 Days of Christmas Reading List for a day or two in December for your fellow ROW80/Platform authors?

The Rule of Three Blogfest ends this week!  If you've read the entires, you'll know I'm not kidding when I tell you that there are some fabulous pieces.  Take some time to enjoy great tales and share some fiction appreciation!

Have a terrific weekend - I can say that, it's hump day already! :}  See you all on Sunday.

  3. I'm a habitual NaNo failure, but I still keep signing up. One of these years, I know I'll pull through! And I think this year might be the one. Good luck! It's a lot of fun, and I think having the support of everyone from RoW80 will be the magic touch to a lot of really great successes!

PARALLEL sounds really interesting, too! I might have to check that out! Thanks for sharing it!

  4. I'm not quite sure I'll make it to market with my current WIP by Christmas... but count me in (so long as I'm eligible)! I'd be glad to help however I can, and be more than happy to offer a book or two or twelve in a giveaway. Feel free to just shoot me a line with what you need.

Best of luck with NaNo. I'll be cheerlurking. Which is like cheerleading, only lurkier. Get it? *sigh* Caffeine... stat!

  5. You always post such amazing work. Will have to look into this one as well. And congrats on the NaNo. I'm looking forward to it, and yet, not ready. But ready or not, here it comes. I need to button down and get some serious work finished and clear my head a bit.

Good work on your goals. It's nearly impossible to go through a WIP and not add or revise a few things. Go for it :)

PS: I meant to tell you I totally LOLed at the oven mitt comment from last week (I think). Too funny and so true.

  6. Good luck on NaNo. I'm not doing it this year, but I got a lot done last year despite the slamming halt I had because of family getting sick over Thanksgiving. That book sounds neat, and I love that quote. I was a fairy tale reader growing up and still am as an adult.

  7. Em - I'm almost ready :) I'm getting excited/nervous. I can't decided whether to smile or wretch...ha!

Ryan - Hmmm. I sort of feel like a victim, too. lol.

L.S. - I've read the prologue of Parallel...and I really liked it. I'm looking forward to reading, too.

Matt - You're always welcome to join in any of my zany projects! Just get the second novel done to the Binder's Series....would 'ya? Ha.

Wendy - Thanks ;} I love making people laugh. It just makes the day better! That's how I feel too (about NaNo...) ready or not, here I come.

Jaleh - I thought I just saw on your blog that you were doing NaNo? ?? Probably I read wrong - or assumed... Ha! (You know what they say about doing that?? heh heh. I've made an arse of myself before...and I'll likely do it again...)

  8. Nadja, I'd happily repost any list on my blog! I'm happy to see that your prep for NaNo is coming along, and that you've signed up! I feel like this is going to be like one big party. :D

I'm crossing my fingers that you get to squeeze some time in for reading soon. I've been reading at least one novel each weekend for the past few weeks, and I think it might be my new routine. Makes it a lot easier for me to spend the rest of the weekend poring over schoolwork.

Have a great rest of the week!

  9. I was directed over here by Angela Brown about your 12 Days of Christmas Reading. I have a book releasing December 13th, a YA Steampunk, and I would love to participate in it if you end up doing it, even though I'm not a part of ROW80... If you still need authors, you can fire me an email at brookenomicon@gmail.com.

Good luck with NaNoWriMo. I'm skipping this year, even though I'll still be writing. I just won't be a part of the chaos. ;)
